If any of your employees regularly use Display Screen Equipment, and that includes desk-top computers, laptops, tablets and smartphones, for work they may be at risk of injury if they are using them incorrectly. We can provide DSE Assessments and DSE Assessor Training to avoid that risk.

The Health and Safety (Display Screen Equipment) Regulations 1992 aim to protect the health of people who work with DSE, which include RSI, Work Related Upper Limb Disorders, Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, Tenosynovitis and eye-strain. The Regulations were introduced because DSE has become one of the most common kinds of work equipment.  As an employer, you need to assess the risks associated with using DSE equipment and any special needs of individual staff.  Employers are required to ensure that DSE Assessments are carried out for all DSE users.

We can:

  • provide training and support for key employees in carrying out DSE Assessments
  • advise on effective DSE management systems
  • carry out on site DSE assessments for problem/complex areas or where an employee is experiencing difficulties or has a medical condition that is affecting their ability to use DSE comfortably and effectively.

All of our training can be delivered on site to reduce travelling, accommodation, abstraction and expenses costs.  All trainees will receive a certificate detailing the training that they have received.

DSE ASSESSMENTS

The DSE Regulations place requirements on the employer to carry out an assessment of an employee’s workplace – this includes specific requirements related to the chair, the desk, software and the environment. We can help you meet the legal requirements.

DSE EQUIPmENT

Display Screen Equipment includes computers, PCs, laptops, tablets and smartphones that are used for a significant or intensive period when at work. The employer is required to carry out a DSE Assessment regarding their safe use, and to provide information and instruction to staff on their safe use.

DSE assessor training

If you have a large number of staff, we can train key staff to be workplace DSE Assessors.  This can save you money in the long run, and also help you to manage the risks to health posed by use of DSE Equipment. We can also provide ongoing support to your DSE Assessors.
